Leach Field Repair & Replacement

When a septic system fails, you need a licensed, transparent partner who protects your yard and handles the process end‑to‑end. GWM Earthworks is a NH Licensed Septic System Installer with 25 years of local experience. We diagnose the true problem, coordinate design and permitting, install to code, and restore your site—so you can get life back to normal with minimal disruption.

What We Do & Key Benefits

Thorough diagnostics

Licensed septic repairs and full replacements. We coordinate with permitted designers (test pits/perc), handle town/NHDES submissions, install to spec, and restore the site.

Design coordination

Work with a permitted septic system designer for test pits/perc tests and a compliant plan tailored to your soils, slope, and setbacks.

Permits & inspections

Manage town and NHDES submissions, schedule inspections, and keep you informed at every step—no guesswork.

Installation done right

Replace the field (and tank if required), repair/replace D‑box and crushed pipes, add effluent filters where appropriate, and protect utilities

Minimal yard disruption

Thoughtful access routes, erosion control, and neat staging. We finish with grading and loam/seed as scoped.

Honest-timelines & pricing

Clear scope and line‑item estimate. We set realistic expectations rather than overpromising speed.

Leach Field FAQs

  • What are the warning signs of failure?

Odors near the tank or field, slow drains or backups inside, and persistently wet or unusually green strips over the drainfield are common flags. Sometimes the issue is localized—a crushed pipe or failed baffle—so we start with a site visit to determine whether you need a full replacement or a targeted repair.

  • Can you repair instead of replace?

Sometimes. If we find a damaged baffle or crushed line, we may be able to perform a targeted repair without a full redesign or permit cycle. When a field has reached end of life or is out of compliance, a licensed designer will determine the appropriate replacement plan based on soils, setbacks, and groundwater.

  • How long does the process take?

Plan on several weeks. Design and permitting typically take about 3–4+ weeks before any excavation can begin, depending on designer schedules and town/state approvals. Once permitted, installation commonly takes 3–5+ days, followed by restoration. We’ll give you a realistic schedule for your specific site.

  • What will it cost?

Costs vary by design type, access, ledge/rock, and groundwater. Full replacements in NH often range from the low‑five to mid‑five figures, while targeted repairs (like a crushed pipe) are much less. After assessment, we provide a transparent, line‑item estimate so you understand each cost driver.

  • How disruptive is the work to my yard?

We plan access to minimize disturbance, protect utilities, use erosion controls, and keep staging organized. After inspections and backfill, we regrade and restore per scope (often loam/seed). Expect some settling as soils stabilize; we’ll advise care and touch‑up needs.

  • Do you handle permits and inspections?

Yes. We coordinate with a licensed designer, submit plans to the town and NHDES, schedule inspections, and provide required as‑builts. You’ll have a single point of contact from start to finish.
